Why Southern Africa ?

It was pure chance! A small ad in the newspaper La Libre Belgique had caught my father’s eye, and he told us about it. The travel agency “All Ways” was looking for candidates for a lecture tour of Namibia and Botswana, led by Edgar Kestelloot.

Edgar Kestellot, a geographer by training, was then director of the Natural History Museum in Brussels. We knew him from his numerous appearances as a guest on the RTBF program Le Jardin Extraordinaire. He had an incredible gift for communication that instilled in us a desire to rediscover these countries. And it is surely no coincidence that I have always kept the little booklet we received when we made our reservation.

This trip has left a lasting impression on our minds and hearts. We’ve traveled extensively around the world, but nowhere else have we experienced the intimate atmosphere that is so characteristic of Namibia.

Exploring Southern Africa means delving into its geographical, human, and political history; it also means traveling through some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes and observing the extraordinary wildlife that inhabits this part of the globe.

“Tips and Tricks”

To ensure your independent trip is a success.

A successful independent trip depends on preparation and a spirit of adventure. Choosing destinations that suit your interests allows you to fully enjoy the experience. Organization is key: plan a flexible itinerary, book essential accommodations, but leave room for improvisation. Traveling alone or in a small group fosters authentic immersion, which is ideal for discovering local cultures. Financial independence and the use of tools like apps or offline maps simplify travel. Finally, an open and curious attitude turns the unexpected into opportunities, ensuring memorable experiences and invaluable personal growth.

Share your view of the wild world with your loved ones

Sharing your perspective on the wild world with loved ones is an experience that brings people closer together and inspires the mind. Observing the raw beauty of nature—from forests to deserts and majestic savannas—is an even greater privilege when shared.

These moments of connection also provide an opportunity to raise awareness among your loved ones about the importance of preserving this fragile biodiversity. Together, you create lasting memories and develop a deeper understanding of the world around us, strengthening your bonds while honoring the richness of wildlife.

Nature is everything we see, Everything we want, everything we love. Everything we know, everything we believe, Everything we feel within ourselves. She is beautiful to those who see her, She is good to those who love her, She is just when we believe in her And respect her within ourselves. Look at the sky, it sees you, Embrace the earth, it loves you. Truth is what we believe In nature, it is yourself. (G. Sand: excerpt from the poem “To Aurore”)
